Thanedar Famous For Apple Gardens
A pleasing village Thanedar, placed among the beautiful apple orchards in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India, is at an elevation of 7,250 ft and is renowned as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh. Apples dominate this fruit bowl, at Thanedar the sloppy areas can be discerned with apple trees, their greenish branches extended in graceful, delicate blossoms or affluent with prosperous apples. Thanedar was the destination where Samuel Stokes established the first apple seed and the legacy of apples in India began growing. Samuel Stokes is an avatar in Thanedar. Thanedar’s apples are applied in making most luscious wines, jam and pickles.
It is a perfectly comforting place where time has no meaning, moves disregarded, and loving Mother Nature’s sumptuosity. One can pass refreshfully lethargic days here. Banjara Camp near Thanedar renders the commodious adjustment facilities. This is a tourist destination to attempt many adventure activities like trekking, nature walks and rock climbing.
The main attractions in this beautiful place include an ancient St. Mary’s Church, Tani-Jubbar Lake, Parmjyotir the stone temple and Hattu Peak. Satyanand Stokes, an apple pioneer, constructed the stone temple in the Pahari architectural style. A close hillock, Barobag is attractive. The Himachali style family domicile of the apple pioneer Satyanand Stokes, Harmony House, is on Barobag Hill. One can also take to the captivating Koteshwar Mahadev Temple at Kumarsain and pay an onsite visit of the old royal palace in this apple dome. Lots of holidaymakers visit Thanedar in the seasons to have a real experience of natural stunner and privateness.
Brobag Hill
It is the highest peak of Thanedr. It is therefore a large field, the name of the hill had Brobag. The Warfachchhadit beautiful views of the mountains. Sutlej River is seen from the hill.
Harmony Hall on the hill. It is a three storey hall. It was in 1912 AD. The building stone, wood and slate made. Prmjyorthyr temple is here. It was founded in 1937 AD. The statue of a deity in the temple is not installed. In Sanskrit verses written on the walls of the temple are tied.
Kotgr
In the early 19th century was Kotgr battleground. The war in Nepal, Kangra, Kullu, Punjab rulers and later came to the East India Company. Finally, in 1843 AD, the East India Company defeated Gorkhas annexed it. Garten mission school was established here in 1843 AD. In 1872 AD, St Mary’s church was built next to the school.
Hatu top
The peak altitude of 11 155 feet. This is the temple of the goddess Hatu. Hatu local people believe their mother goddess. Black stone statue in the temple of the Goddess is installed. Pine forest on the hill. The most spectacular view of the surrounding hills.
Tani Jubbar Lake
It is located 8 kilometers from Lake Htu hill. It is a small lake. Near the lake is a temple of the serpent god.
Jubbal (86 km)
This place is on the way from Shimla to Hathkoti. Jubbal the grand palace. The palace is now a heritage hotel (Tel: 01781-252001-02) is given as follows. It was the palace of Jubbal Ranaon. The original castle was built in 1027 AD. But in the 1960s the castle was destroyed by fire. The castle later re-created. New castle remains in local and European style. The castle is made of wood. Its design was designed by a French architect.
